Chapter 2099
The atmosphere in Greencliff seemed to change because Ethan was back.
William and April were even more overjoyed to hear that Ethan was back.
The helicopter landed in front of the Palmer family bungalow. Both William and April’s eyes were bloodshot from crying.
“Mum! Dad!” Ethan quickly went forward to hug them both tightly.
“I’m just glad you’re back safely! I’m so glad you’re back!” said April as she cried. “We’re all waiting for you. Diane and the child are both waiting for you!”
Ethan nodded and ran upstairs immediately.
He did not waste even one second.
Ethan pushed the room door open and a faint fragrance hit his nose. That was the fragrance that Diane’s hair always had.
Even though she was lying motionless on the bed, her parents had taken good care of her.
“Diane, I’m back.” Ethan’s eyes teared up a little.
He wasn’t used to seeing Diane so quiet. He still liked that active and energetic Diane.
Diane quietly lay on the bed without moving. Her slight breathing really made Ethan’s heart ache.
He walked over and sat down on the bed before gently picking Diane’s hand up.
“Did you miss me?”
“I missed you so much.”
“I’m back, so you’ll be fine, don’t worry.”
Ethan spoke softly to himself, but also seemed to be speaking to Diane. He gently caressed Diane’s face and took a deep breath.
He took the bottle in his jacket out.
He uncorked it and a refreshing smell immediately wafted out.
Ethan took out a pill, pried Diane’s mouth open a little, then put the pill into her mouth. He hoped that she would wake up immediately.
Time went by slowly. Ethan sat there and continued to hold Diane’s hand without moving.
Ethan’s gaze was filled with gentleness as he looked at the face that he thought about every single day and night.
The only person in the world who could make him have such a tender gaze in his eyes was Diane.
He never lived for himself for the first half of his life. But now, Diane had taught him how to live for himself, and how to be happy.
But his happiness was Diane.
Suddenly, Diane’s finger moved a little.
Even though Ethan had been through a lot in life and was calm almost all the time, he started getting excited, as if he had been electrocuted.
“Diane?” Ethan called out.
He could see Diane’s eyelashes flutter slightly and he felt tears coming to his eyes. “Diane! Can you hear me? Diane!”
Diane’s eyes slowly opened and her vision was slightly blurry. But she could tell that the man sitting by her bed with reddened eyes who seemed to be crying was her husband.
“Hubby, why are you crying?” Diane’s voice was very soft and a little confused. “How long have I been sleeping? My head feels so heavy.”
“Not very long.” Ethan tried to calm himself down. “How do you feel?”
“That was such a long dream.” Diane bit her lip and some color started returning to her face. “I seem to have slept through a really long dream and nearly couldn’t wake up from it.”
Ethan’s heart nearly dropped.
He was so glad that he had found the antidote. He couldn’t imagine what he would do if Diane had remained in that dream all by herself.
“What dream was that? Why was it so long?” he asked.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Diane shook her head and slowly sat up. She wrapped her arms around Ethan’s neck and hugged him tightly. “It was a nightmare and I don’t want to remember it.”
Ethan nodded and gently patted her back.
“Don’t think about it anymore then. It’s over anyway. You won’t have such nightmares anymore.” He took a deep breath. “I’ll always be by your side, so you won’t go through such nightmares anymore.”
“Uh huh.” Diane enjoyed this familiar embrace, the familiar warmth, and his familiar smell.
“Hubby, I missed you.”
