“I haven’t decided,” Darius laughed coldly. His laughter was slightly sinister now. He didn’t expect things to go so smoothly. Things were going so well, even he was surprised.
It felt like this was all destined to happen. Even fate was going to stand on his side.
He glanced at Vinny.
“You just need to go along with what I’m doing. Believe me, the Underworld will soon be ours. Those cowards are not fit to have any of it.” There was a smug look on Darius’s face as he said this. He loved the feeling of having everything within his control.
Vinny didn’t say anything and listened to everything Darius told him to do.
The Court Chiefs returned to their own areas and instructed all their soldiers to search the Underworld for where this Heaven and Earth Geomantic Compass could be. But even after several days had passed, they still couldn’t find it.
Greedy Wolf didn’t seem to be in urgent need of it and didn’t hurry them. He didn’t do anything at all, besides just sitting all by himself in the main court. He didn’t go anywhere during this time.
He started to miss Celaine now.
But he had told her that he would give her enough freedom. She could go anywhere she wanted, and he would not interfere.
“Your Highness, Darius seeks an audience with you,” reported a subordinate as he ran in and knelt on the floor.
“What does he want?” Greedy Wolf didn’t even open his eyes.
“He says he has something important to report to you, but did not mention exactly what it was.”
Greedy Wolf waved his hands. “Let him in.”
“Yes, Your Highness!”
In no time, Darius walked in quickly, knelt down on one knee and proclaimed respectfully, “Greetings, Your Highness!”
Greedy Wolf said, “Get up. What is it?”
“Your Highness, I have found the Heaven and Earth Geomantic Compass you were talking about.”
“Oh?” Greedy Wolf opened his eyes at these words and stared straight at Darius. The gleam in his eyes made Darius’s heart tremble.
He kept telling himself that he didn’t have to be afraid of the Demon King. The current Demon King was a different person from the Demon King of the past, so he didn’t need to fear this one.
“Where is it?”
Darius carefully took the geomantic compass out from his coat and held it up before Greedy Wolf with both hands. “Your Highness, please take a look and see if this is the right one?”
Greedy Wolf knew it was the right one the moment he took the geomantic compass from Darius. He nodded.
“Good job.” He glanced at Darius, then asked, “Where did you find it?”
“I found it in the place where you used to train,” said Darius honestly. “You used to lock yourself inside while training. Even though it’s in ruins now, I thought it would probably be there. Your Highness might have forgotten, but I haven’t, so I went to take a look and to my surprise, it was really there.”
“Oh, so that’s where it was. I had really forgotten,” Greedy Wolf laughed. “You’ve done a good job, so tell me, what do you want as your reward?”
“I do not need any reward. Bearing Your Highness’ burden is only what I ought to be doing,” said Darius respectfully as he immediately fell on one knee.
“My role is to do my best to fulfil everything you have asked me to do, and to work dutifully for you. How could I ask for any reward?”
Greedy Wolf started laughing loudly.
He looked at Darius. “Looks like the one most loyal to me is you.”
Darius didn’t dare to respond to that.
Greedy Wolf touched the geomantic compass in his hand. “The Underworld is too small. Darius, are you satisfied with the Underworld?”
Darius wasn’t sure what Greedy Wolf was driving at. But just as he was still trying to think of what Greedy Wolf was really trying to ask, Greedy Wolf answered his own question, “The Underworld is indeed too small, and it can’t fit so many people. It will collapse sooner or later.”
“The Underworld will collapse?” Darius looked shocked, as if he was in disbelief. “With the Demon King leading us, the Underworld will never be in danger!”
“We all believe in you, O Demon King! We believe that Your Highness will lead us to greater glory!”
His tone of voice was agitated and looked as if he wished he could use his entire body to show how genuine he was.
Greedy Wolf just waved his hands and didn’t really care about what Darius said. He dismissed Darius after that.
Darius didn’t dare to stay any longer. He got up immediately and slowly backed out of the main court with such great reverence.
Nobody noticed the sinister look that flashed in his eyes!
